  1. 1. Jorge doesn't want Matt to return, because he fears he will begin a revolution against the keepers. Jorge wants the other boys to calm down, no matter what he has to do.
    2. Matt remembers that Tam Lin had said that there is no point in dying without trying to survive. Tam Lin said that animals will just give up and not know any better, but humans are supposed to fight to the end. Matt tells this to Chacho to motivate him.
    3. Matt realizes that he keeps referencing to Tam Lin, and when Chacho asks who Tam is, Matt lies and says that he is his father. But Matt did feel that Tam Lin was the closest thing he had to a father.
    4. Matt and Chacho were still trapped I the pit of bones, but they were still alive. Matt decided they should escape in the morning.

  2. 1: Jorge says that if they took the tape off of Matt's arms and legs, he would try to kill them again, and that he was a murderer. He also didn't want Matt to have a chance of escaping and starting a rebellion or for that matter just disrupting the order of things.
2: Matt remembers Tam Lin telling him that when animals get trapped they simply give up and die, but humans always have hope no matter how bad the odds of survival are, and that is what separates humans from animals. This inspires Matt to try to escape.
3: Since it would be very hard for Matt to explain his whole life to Chacho, he simply says that Tam Lin was his father since he couldn't really say the truth. In some ways it wasn't really a lie though since Tam Lin was about the closest thing to a father that Matt actually had.
4: At the end of the chapter, Matt and Chacho are stuck at the bottom of the bone pit. Matt gets so tired, that he gives up trying to escape and decides to try again in the morning.

  3. 1. They don't take the tape off of Matt's legs because they don't want him to be able to get out of the bone yard and die inside of it. They don't ever want to see Matt again.
    2. Matt was always called an animal back at the Big House, but Tam Lin said that animals give up and die when they are in trouble and Tam Lin said he shouldn't be like that because he didn't look at Matt as an animal. So, Matt doesn't just give up and die, he fights to survive.
    3. Matt tells Chacho that Tam Lin is his father. It would have been too hard to explain the whole body guard situation to Chacho, so he just settles with father.
    4. At the end of the chapter, they are still trapped in the bone pit. They decide to try and escape in the morning when there will be more light and they will be able to see.

    2. Matt remembers that Tam Lin said that animals never try to escape and just die but humans always try to survive and this separates the animals from humans so matt gets inspired and try to escape.
    3. Matt tells people that Tam Lin is his father because it is a long story and people wouldn't get the situation that matt had with the body guards and El Patron so he says that Tam Lin is his father to make it simple for everybody.
    4. The boys never escaped and are still trapped in the bone yard but they try to escape the next day because it is easier to see with all the light and they need to rest.
